I recommend reading the Kodak Guide to black and white processing H-1.

If you can find it. I wonder if Kodak has put it's old guides on-line.

Sam Wells will hopefully chime in, he is a master at Black and White. 
You can push to increase the gamma, you may or may not wish to underexpose.
