[Frameworks] Call for contributions: The Shifting Ecologies of Photochemical Film conference (7-11 June 2021)

Hi there Frameworkers,

I’d like to announce a conference that I’m co-organising called THE SHIFTING ECOLOGIES OF PHOTOCHEMICAL FILM IN THE DIGITAL ERA, 7-11 June 2021. It was originally going to take place at Aberystwyth University, but the ongoing state of uncertainty has led us to reluctantly opt for the online format. Whilst this is unfavourable for photochemical film projection and installation, it opens up possibilities for broader participation, and we particularly welcome proposals from researchers and artists working outside of European and American contexts. The online situation also allows us to be slightly more experimental with what we understand by ‘conference’ and we’re hoping to include a range of events, screenings, discussions, academic and artist talks, etc. Just let us know what you have in mind and we’ll see how this thing will evolve. The goal is to create at least one publication arising from the papers.

We’re in the process of developing a website for our photochemical film lab (Labordy Ffilm Aber), now run by Marcy Saude, and the conference will eventually be hosted there, but for now here’s the info page: https://www.aber.ac.uk/en/tfts/research/conferences/#the-shifting-ecologies-of-photochemical-film-in-the-digital-era----june.
