[Frameworks] FLICKER AND FREQUENCIES CALL FOR ENTRIES

[Filmont Media Project]

Flicker and Frequencies is a live expanded cinema and transmission art
event staging hybrid encounters between the moving image and terrestrial
radio and taking place in New York’s Upper Hudson Valley on March 11.


This is an open call for experimental and artists moving image works that
blur boundaries between film and radio and encourage exploration of the
affinities and contradictions between these distinct media forms. Selected
films will screen in the FILMont Media Project’s outdoor cinema space in
Philmont, New York, while their soundtrack is simulcast live on local radio
station WGXC 90.7 fm and online at wavefarm.org <http://waveform.org/>.


We welcome films that address radio thematically and formally. Selected
work might explore transmission infrastructure visually or draw on radio
broadcasts in its sound design. Or maybe your film considers the
experiential differences between seeing in proximity as compared with
hearing at a distance. Perhaps your film explores properties of radio such
as static, electromagnetic modulation, or broadcast delay. Depending on
technical demands, we also welcome proposals that include the filmmaker's
live interaction with the program’s radio signal.


Entries must:

   - Have a soundtrack
      - Run between 3 and 20 minutes
      - Contain a link to a downloadable preview file
      - Be accompanied by a 100-200 word description and brief artist bio


Deadline: March 1; selections announced March 5.
