[Frameworks] opera

Thanks Tessa and Gail. We showed Lulu at Filmex in the late 70s. I thought it was a knockout and I wrote the catalog entry. It would be interesting to see how it holds up (or not) today.

  Gene,
I know that Chase had several of his films digitized a few years ago and had several DVDs made of Lulu (which due to a dispute with the estate of Alban Berg cannot be commercially screened), but it's a really good quality transfer. I believe that DVDs and prints can be loaned directly from Chase, his e-mail is rchase at chaseartfilm.com.

Also, I can provide phone and mail contact information for him off list to anyone that's interested.

  Best,
  Tessa Siddle

"Bruges La Mort," "Lulu," and "Beatrice Cenci" by Ronald Chase are a few good Opera based films.

        Dear Frameworks:

I'm wondering what you might turn up on the idea of opera; the group I'm doing a program for is basing a two day screening and discussion around it; with Mark Dornfor-May's U-Carmen as a feature within it. They are very happy to consider the topic broadly, so I'd love to include some experimental work. I've thought of things from Potter's Thriller to K. Resetartis' Aegypten. I'm interested in hearing about pieces which are not just opera in subject but in form or feel.

        thanks so much--Meg
