[Frameworks] subtitle projecting

Just do powerpoint and mask the top part of the the digital projector lens with cardboard. We have done this several times when projecting 35mm with subtitles
in powerpoint. Really not too much work but you may need an extra person in the booth to run the titles.

Subject: Re: [Frameworks] subtitle projecting

Dear Flick,

I'm subtitleing silent film inzerts, what's are originaly in german to hungarian. The film will run with 18 frame / sec /35mm/, so I can't sinchronize it. So I have to "click" every inserts. The text will be projected under the screen.
Anyway this VLC solution sounds good, for other times, when I run with 25 f/sec.
I try to make it with Powerpoint now, but it's painfull.

Thanks and best

Sebestyén

VLC will project .srt files if they are in the same folder as the film file.

If you're doing dual-system (film with digital subtitles) you could always have a blank (all black) movie file of the right length, named e.g. "movie.mov" and a file "movie.srt" in the same folder, and project that.

Maybe there are dedicated solutions, and I wonder about the overlapping projections - i.e. will you project digitally on top of a film projection? That'd have to be mighty bright titles, and some very dark blacks, to avoid washing out the film or being illegible...

Now I'm wildly speculating - so could you explain your situation more clearly?
