I could write a freakin book on this, but I won't--instead I will just say
that I shot my most recent experimental non fiction film with super 8, and
finished to 35mm, with digital workflow in between. It's awesome, gratifying
and admittedly somewhat perverse ;) (&coming soon to Punto de Vista and Ann
Arbor)
Super 8 may be screened in its original format in some very few places
(nice! dangerous!) , but I think most Super Ocheros use it as a capture
medium, especially those who are interested in a) distribution and b) sound
Cant really imagine what you can say to people to 'convince' them
that something is creatively viable, especially if those people are
institutions. Will they hear it if you say shooting on films helps us
learn about time, that precious invisible substance which is slipping thru
our fingers even as we write this?
carpe diem,
