Call for works for Sounding Images 2011 at REDCAT

NewTown and SCREAM (Southern California Resource for Electro-Acoustic Music)
announce a call for works for video with electro-acoustic music scores on
DVD.  The Sounding Images 2011 concert will take place in late 2011 at
REDCAT (Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater) in the Walt Disney Concert Hall
complex in Los Angeles.  This will be the final presentation in the Sounding
Images series that began at CalArts in 1989.  We are looking for works in
which there is a close relationship between the visual and musical
components of the work, works which combine the two into an integrated
whole.

Works submitted must be no longer than 15 minutes, recorded on standard DVDs
(playable on region 1 players or encoded without a region flag), and with a
stereo soundtrack.   Works selected for presentation on Sounding Images 2011
may be presented in HD format on Blu-ray discs, but should not be submitted
in this format.  Works may be created by one or more artists.  Artists of
works chosen for presentation will receive honoraria from NewTown and
SCREAM.

Age & Nationality Qualifications:  There are no qualifications as to the age
or nationality of the artists.

Submission Fee:  There is no fee for submitting a work.

Submission Limitations:  Artists may submit a maximum of two works.

Required Documentation:  Each DVD must be accompanied by a printed
information sheet including the full name(s) of the artist(s), mailing
address, e-mail address, phone number, the full title and duration of the
work, short biographical sketch(es) of the artist(s), and brief program
notes.

Deadline:  Submissions must be received by April 11, 2011.  This deadline is
firm.  Submissions received after that date, regardless of postmark date,
will not be considered.  Early submission is encouraged.

Notification:  All artists who have submitted works for this event will be
notified by e-mail by the end of May 2011.

Artists who wish their DVDs returned should send an SASE with submissions.
DVDs for works not selected and submitted without SASEs will be destroyed
after the curating process.
