MisALT CALL FOR ENTRIES #3: PORNOGRAPHY AND ITS DISCONTENTS

Deadline: July 14th 2011
Screening: July 28th 2011

The MisALT Screening Series is currently accepting submissions for its
July screening: “Pornography and its Discontents.”

The relaxing of moral codes and the mass proliferation of new
technologies have allowed pornography to become culturally ubiquitous,
being produced and distributed both by a multi-billion dollar
commercial industry and an ever increasing number of amateur producers
using a simple array of web-cams and cell phones. Despite the immense
scale of its production and consumption, pornography is still often
viewed as a poorly kept secret whose shadowy economy of sex, work,
power, and visual pleasure proposes a dynamic of private consumption
of public bodies.

The MisALT Screening Series is currently seeking submissions of film,
video, and new media work that experiments with the framework, format,
and thematics of pornography; work that proposes an alternate erotics
to the narrow range of subjects that dominate pornographic
representations of women and men; and work that challenges the
conventions, power dynamics, and biopolitics of pornographic work.

We are primarily interested in short to mid-length projects (1-45
minutes) but will consider lengthier pieces as appropriate.

To submit please fill out the submission form (available at:
http://www.othervixen.com/misaltsub.html) and either send it with a
preview DVD, artist statement, and project description to:
