Just a quick note in support of WithoutABox.
I met the founder of the site in Cannes when it was a new startup and 
he gave me a free account (now it's free for everybody). I don't send 
many of my films to festivals, just the few I think may be useful for 
other films to have a dialogue with. I think I've only put 2 films 
into the WithoutABox database. But the results were terrific. The 
system automatically matches my film to festivals (for example, 
festivals looking for experimental films on 16mm less than 30 
minutes), sends me an email, and I just have to push a button to 
submit. It gives me a confirmation number and I send off the preview 
copy with the submission fee. I didn't submit to very many festivals 
but I think I got accepted at about 1/3 of the ones I applied to. 
Anyway I would have been much too lazy to search around for all the 
appropriate festivals and fill in the application forms each time. i 
think WithoutABox is a great ressource. The one weakness is that most 
of the festivals on WAB are still mostly north American.
