Yes, well, it's worth keeping in mind how that situation came about in the first place.

I don't think the situation can be described in any way as "unfortunate", as it was hardly a matter of ill fortune. More like business as usual.

I would agree that it feels miraculous that Gregory's work even exists however.

It's interesting to see the extent of peoples denial on the scene.
It's a bit like the suggestion that Sally Potter "sold out" which occasionally surfaces. Sold out and pushed out, two very different things IMHO.

On the upside, I do think there is more support and recognition of Gregory's work and these things can take time. It's only more recently that books on experimental film have started to include Derek Jarman in a less than dismissive way.

For those who feel saddened by the idea that Gregory's work might be being overlooked, then I would suggest that you keep talking and writing about it. If you keep drawing attention to it then people will start noticing it.

love

I have to echo Fred in saying how unfortunate it is that there hasn't been more recognition and support for Markopoulos's work and obviously Eniaios in
particular. Someone on the panel said this has to be the most ambitious film ever made, bar none. It feels miraculous that it even exists.
