Hi Frameworkers,
So I've been continuing to volunteer at selling various surplus film editing
equipment for Cineworks, the Vancouver film co-op. Its been an up and down ride
for the past 2 years, expanding our workspace to create an analog film center
then losing part of our operating funding, then getting a massive equipment
donation from Technicolor, then laying off two long term employees. Many thanks
to those that bought stuff from me a few weeks ago. What I've got here is not
likely to be of much practical interest to the average filmmaker and I think the
shipping cost would be prohibitive to their practical value in this era of film
editing. I'm looking for advice on who to approach (other than the local scrap
metal dealer) that might be interested?
The big oddball items we've got:
A step/hot splicer for anamorphic 35mm - I don't know the real difference or
reasons between this and a regular one but the splices are apparently thinner
according to the retired neg cutter who last worked with it.
A LoKBox system - this is a Sony setup used for conforming negatives by using a
videotape edit with burn in edge code. The monitor apparently is a 24fps CRT and
is setup with a 3/4" deck and has two 35mm sync blocks that can connect to the
system. I don't quite know how it all works and the neg cutter never trusted the
system but used it as a visual back up to a paper EDL
Any advice appreciated!
