Hi Mike -

I'm assuming your talking about 16mm projectors....David Tetzlaff has a 
great page about fixing this:

Also, Alain LeTourneau and others have suggested using tiny rubber o-rings that you can find in hardware stores.  I've tried this -- it's easy and it works!  You could also check the frameworks archives for more suggestions.
