The subject for AVANT 2012 is comedy and the humorous strand in experimental 
film. The event starts on Friday the 14th September with two super-8 
programs by the Spanish filmmaker Stanley Sunday (aka David Domingo) and the 
Finnish filmmaker Pasi “Sleeping” Myllymäki. The programs will be 
presented by both the filmmakers and the curators, Miguel Fernandez Labayen 
and Mika Taanila.

On Saturday are four programs: Two screenings with American west-coast 
filmmaking, among them work by Robert Nelson. These will be presented by 
Mark Toscano, Los Angeles. In the afternoon the British filmmaker and artist 
John Smith will present two programs with his own work.

AVANT closes at noon on Sunday with a discussion on comedy and experimental 
film at Kristineham Art Museum.
