call Kodak and Fuji and speak to your local or local-ish rep. if you can not get samples, contact 800-621-FILM with your order needs. youll provide your student i.d. via email to kodak and receive 30% discount. if, still too pricey, call or drop by some film production houses or labs that work in 16mm to inquire for short-ends (unused film from productions). i also find 16mm deals on craiglist at times.
