[Frameworks] Portrait films

By coincidence, I am just about to start work on a viewing/reading list on just this subject, which would serve as the basis for working with students on making portrait films later this summer. 
Any suggestions for short poetic/experimental/non-formated film portraits, or for texts which discuss the portrait as a film genre, would be gratefully received! And when I've finished compiling, I'd be happy to make my final list available to anyone who wants a copy.
