Kinetta Archival recently rescanned film for a theatrical documentary that had been originally done at Spectra, and the filmmakers were quite astounded at the difference. (I haven’t yet seen the Spectra version, so I am only repeating what they told me.)
There’s a big difference between HD telecine and 3,3K scanning, about 5x more resolution. But it depends what your needs are, and how large the image will be projected.

>> Kinetta Archival in NYC (7 West 22nd Street, 6th floor) does 3.3K Kinetta scans from any format film (which is about 5 times the resolution of HD telecine of 4:3 material pillar boxed). Note that some places offering HD telecine actually are doing SD telecine and uprezzing it to HD — not an ideal way to go.
