I just purchased a "Wolverine" negative scanner, which does slides as well.  It works great for the price which is around $125.

>In your experience, what's the best method of digitizing stills directly from films?  More specifically without cutting the film and in situations where there are no outtakes to use.

>In the past, I've used consumer (and prosumer) flat bed scanners. This yields adequate results, but I'm never fully satisfied with the image quality.

>More recently, I've shot single frames and strips using a DSLR with a good Macro lens.  Visually, the images look great.  The limitation with this method is that the resolution is dictated but the camera's sensor.
