[Frameworks] CVM art/film auction closes WED JUNE 25

Here's a chance to own a rare piece of visual music or experimental film
history. Center for Visual Music's online Benefit Auction is underway,
ending in a few days on Wednesday, June 25.

Contemporary work includes signed artwork by Jordan Belson (1998), a
drawing by Steve Roden, a digital print by Robert Seidel, prints by
Christina McPhee, a photograph by filmmaker/photographer Amy Halpern, a
giclee print of a Lumiagraph composition by George Stadnik, and an archival
pigment print by Michael Friend.  All of the works are signed by the
artist. Plus two 16mm film prints by Stan Brakhage. A vintage silver
gelatin photograph by Hy Hirsh is also offered, from CVM's extensive Hirsh
photography collection.



One section of the auction features posters, books, dozens of flipbooks and
more, including the extremely rare Quest for Serenity, signed by author
Gregory Markopolous (from the Elfriede Fischinger Collection), a vintage
LACMA James Whitney poster, a Neon Park/Chick Strand Oasis poster, William
Moritz's Optical Poetry (signed), a flyer from Moritz's Midaswel 1970s
performances, an original program from a Fischinger Lumigraph performance
in San Francisco at the end of Art in Cinema, a rare Walter Ruttmann
monograph, a John Whitney Pioneer laserdisc, and more.


The auction features several works by Oskar Fischinger, oils, watercolor
and charcoal on paper, including a rare,* Untitled *watercolor from 1944,
animation art from the film *Squares* (1934), and a 1931 animation drawing
from *Studie nr. 8*.  Another rare, featured item is an original
advertising poster from the final series of the legendary Vortex Concerts,
1959, by Jordan Belson and Henry Jacobs at Morrison Planetarium.



Proceeds will benefit CVM's programs including film preservation and
digitization, particularly works by Fischinger and Belson. The auction
concludes June 25, 2014. Bids are accepted via email to cvmaccess at gmail
dot com.  CVM is a 501(c)3 California non-profit organization.
