Frameworkers,
Good morning.
I wanted to send a quick reminder that tonight MONO NO AWARE hosts Sarah Christman for a program of her short films as part of the CONNECTIVITY THROUGH CINEMA screening series. 7 pm at CPR 361 Manhattan Ave, Brooklyn NY. We'll have Brooklyn Brewery Beers, some snacks and seats to sit on! ; )

SCREENING PROGRAM : Dear Bill Gates (17 min, 2006)A one-sided email correspondence evolves into a poetic visual essay exploring the ownership of our visual history and culture. Combining original and archival film, video and images from the internet, Dear Bill Gates draws unexpected connections among mining, memory and Microsoft.Outside Over There (2 min, 2009/2014),
Broad Channel (14 min, 2010), Over the course of four seasons, the nuances of everyday activity are examined
along one narrow stretch of public shoreline in New York City's Jamaica Bay. Moments of recurrence and change cycle through an ecosystem rooted in migration.
Gowanus Canal (7 min, 2013), Just below the surface of one of the most contaminated urban waterways in the United States, microorganisms thrive amidst the toxic waste.
7285 (6 min, 2014)In December 2012, Kodak announced that they were discontinuing their 16mm color reversal stock. This film is composed of my last twelve rolls of Ektachrome 7285.
Discussion and Q & A session to follow with refreshments.
Sarah J. Christman makes non-fiction films that explore the intersections between people, technology and the natural world. Christman’s work has screened widely, including the MoMA Documentary Fortnight, RotterdamInternational Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, New York Film Festival, and the Los AngelesFilmforum. She received the New Visions Award from the San Francisco International Film Festival for her film Dear Bill Gates, and Jury Awards from the Ann Arbor Film Festival for Broad Channel and As Above, So Below.

MONO NO AWARE’S SCREENING SERIES:
The CONNECTIVITY THROUGH CINEMA series will present the work of artists, film-makers and curators who are traveling or presenting special interactive programs in-person. Our hope is to engage the community by showing work with a focus on post-screening discussion.

This event is sponsored, in part, by the Greater New York Arts Development Fund of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, administered by Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC).
Thanks all!
