Hi Floris, take  a look at this Rosco filter web page. It gives transmission loss in percentages, I believe buried in this site is a "stop" loss chart, but you'll have to dig around for it. Try Lee filters website too.

All gels are going to have different transmission loss percentages, but obviously some more than others. By using charts such as this you may be able to find gels with similar transmission losses.

The ones I use are cheap disco light filters from the electronics store, but some eat a lot of light.
And the amount of light they catch differs.
For example one stop less with a yellow filter, two stops with a red one and 3 stops with a purple filter.

Is there a brand of basic filters available where every color filters out more or less the same amount of light?
