[Frameworks] Call for Submissions: Journal of Digital Media Arts and Practice

This call may be of interest to some on this list. A focus on creative
practice is particularly encouraged for submissions. Regular
contributors/columnists are also sought.

To be considered for online publication and a forthcoming print edition,

The Journal of Digital Media Arts and Practice is dedicated to providing a
platform for scholarly and creative publishing on the burning issues in the
rapidly evolving, always contested, and unpredictable field of new media
and digital media arts. The purpose of the journal is to provoke questions
and discussion on digital media arts research and practice as a means of
moving the field forward with rigor, thoughtfulness, and collaboration.

Topics might include but are not limited to:

Current state of the field
New technologies and their impact
Transmedia storytelling
Interactive documentary
Virtual reality
Art and storytelling with mobile devices
Gaming and game design
Second-screen viewing practices
net.art
Social media and activism in the digital arts
Pedagogy and academic issues
Issues of gender, sexuality, and race in digital media arts

In keeping with iDMAa’s mission of serving a wide range of educators,
practitioners, scholars, and organizations with interests in digital media,
contributors are encouraged to consider formats for their submissions that
best suit the author and the reader. Contributors are encouraged to explore
nontraditional publication strategies the incorporate multiple forms of
media and interactivity and take advantage of an online publishing format..

To that end, contributions can take one of the following formats:
Peer-Reviewed Digital Essays; Commentary and Criticism; and “Burning
Topics” blog posts.

The Journal of Digital Media Arts and Practice publishes year-round and
accepts submissions on a rolling basis.
