OPPORTUNITIES FOR VIEWING: 
SEPT 18TH:  “KINETOSCOPIC RECORDS” A PEEPHOLE CINEMA SCREENING Curated by Dan Streible featuring “Sneezes” filmed during Mono No Aware’s workshops inside the Black Maria at the Thomas Edison National Historical Park, West Orange, NJ. @ UnionDocs – 322 Union Ave, Brooklyn, NY
SEPT 26TH: NEW NEW YORKERS SCREENING PARTY w/ MONO NO AWARE Using Flushing Meadows Corona Park as location and inspiration, these 10 films cover the spectrum of cinematic exploration from direct reality to more fictionalized ones. The work is the result of a 7-week Super 8mm film workshop with Chloe Zimmerman of Mono No Aware. @ Queens Museum, Queens NY
OCT 18TH: CONNECTIVITY THROUGH CINEMA PRESENTS: “SPIRITS IN SEASON” w/ STEPHEN BROOMER (Toronto, ON) *IN PERSON*MONO NO AWARE is excited to present a special 16mm screening presentation with friend and film historian Stephen Broomer. These moving images will follow a surface treatment workshop led by Broomer on Saturday the 17th, where he’ll share some of his surface techniques with participants.
OCT 27TH: CONNECTIVITY THROUGH CINEMA PRESENTS: “HYBRID | CINEMA” w/ MICHAEL A. MORRIS *IN PERSON*MONO NO AWARE welcomes back Mike Morris to present a program of films, videos and performance in an intimate setting. Much of his recent work responds to the rapid changes in how moving images are created and experienced in the 21st century.

OCT WEDS:  INTRO TO 16MM FILMMAKINGConceive, Shoot, Process, Edit and Project on 16mm film. All inclusive. 
OCT 17TH:  SURFACE TREATMENTS with Stephen BroomerLearn how to use brushes with softened emulsion, steel wool, indian ink, reticulation to the point of emulsion dripping over itself, and how to apply the mordancage technique to motion picture film.
OCT 24-25TH:  CYANOTYPE CONTACT PRINTING ON 16MM FILM Learn how to adopt the traditional cyanotype process onto motion picture film base to set your photograms and contact prints in motion. Co-presented by the Center For Alternative Photography. 
OCT SATS: DIRECT FILMMAKING ANIMATION TECHNIQUES manipulate the surface of the film using a variety of camera-less filmmaking techniques; painting, scratching, bleaching, collage, and masking in order to create an original experimental film on 16mm. 
OCT THURS +: JK OPTICAL PRINTING with Bill Brand Join us for this special offering and be introduced to optical printing as a tool for 16mm experimental filmmaking using Bill Brand’s modified JK optical printer, currently housed with Mono No Aware.
