Hello everyone,
I hate to do this, and if it were for my own project I would not be doing
it at all. Alas, this is not a project I am directing. I am helping out in
doing sound and some work as line producer.

I am working with an insanely talented Chinese Artist; Althea (Mengxi) Rao.
A link to past works is located here. http://altheamrao.weebly.com/. Althea
is also a former Flaherty Fellow. I believe her work *Blindfold* was a
product of this fellowship, but don't quote me on that. I am not attempting
to fund raise for any sort of credit, though I am working on the film.
Rather, I was struck as a fan of her work, and reached out to see if there
was anyway that I could help. I saw *Blindfold *as an installation in the
Abington Art Center, and I was quite taken with it. When I was presented
with the opportunity to do sound for her newest project, I jumped on it.

So with that being said, I am now doing sound and semi-producing for
Althea's newest film *Three Seasons*. The kickstarter site is here:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1834779865/three-seasons-a-short-fantasy-film

The idea came from a proverb from Confucius, where in there is an argument
between two men about how many seasons there are. One man argues there are
four while another argues there are three. Confucius then intervenes and
says that there are three seasons. The man arguing that there are three
walks away feeling victorious. The other man asks Confucius, "Why did you
say there are three seasons, when it is obvious and factual that there are
four?" Confucius responds "That man is actually a cricket. He is born in
spring and dies in autumn. How could he conceive of a world with four
seasons?"

This isn't like most Kickstarter campaigns, where we get as far as we can
and then a well-to-do family member bails us out for the remainder. Even if
that were the case for Althea, the majority of her family is living in
China without access to Facebook or Kickstarter. Again, I am not asking in
vein here. I believe Althea's work is experimental and poignant enough to
garner the interest of the contributors and followers on frameworks. I
apologize if this type of solicitous post offends you, but please don't
respond with a nasty email, telling me why you think it is inappropriate
that I may have posted this here. This has happened on various campaigns in
the past, and the ultimate conclusion was "if you don't like it, you can
ignore it." I respect your choice to donate or not, or even to click on the
post in general. If you made it this far, thank you, regardless of whether
or not you donate. If you cannot donate, you can still help if you would
like by sharing the page on Facebook, through email with friends, or on any
other social media outlet. Truthfully anything anyone of you can do is so
deeply appreciated, and aside from my personal thanks the rest of the crew
will reach out to tell you just how grateful we are.

I am not always the most vocal follower of frameworks. To be honest, so
many of you are so intelligent and know so much that it becomes
intimidating to even reply. Please trust that I am a daily reader of all
posts, and I have often written replies, only to follow by shyly deleting
them or saving them to my drafts folder.

I love you all, I love this thread.

Best,
Maxwell di Paolo
