Dear all,

Back in October we posted a call for submissions here for Big Ears Festival
in Knoxville, TN. As a followup we wanted to share the (mostly) complete
film lineup, which features visiting filmmakers Roger Beebe, Jem Cohen,
Jonathan Demme, Kevin Jerome Everson, Janie Geiser, and Bill Morrison.

Other highlights include a 35mm screening of *Book of Days* (1989) by
Meredith Monk, who is performing at the festival, and the North American
premiere of a new restoration of Georges Roquier's *Farrebique* (1946),
which will be part of our celebration of Knoxville native James Agee. The
screening will include a discussion with Dr. Charles Maland, editor of the
new volume, *The Complete Film Reviews and Criticism of James Agee*, and
will be followed by a walking (and drinking) tour of Agee's Knoxville.

All of this is in addition to the typically strong music lineup, now
approaching 100 performances:

In the interest of transparency, we received 80 submissions and invited 12
of them to screen at the fest. Another submission, William Randall's *Methane
Ghosts*, didn't fit in the Big Ears lineup so we invited it to screen,
instead, at The Public Cinema before our recent showing of Deborah
Stratman's *The Illinois Parables*. In the end, premiere status had no
bearing in our selection process.

Thanks, everyone, for your interest. We plan to keep our submission form
free and open throughout the year, so please keep The Public Cinema and Big
Ears in mind as a venue for your work.
