This Friday, Sept 29, Santa Rosa, CA (Sonoma County):

*Visual Music and Early Abstract Films*

Center for Visual Music and Chroma Gallery present an outdoor salon-style
screening of abstract films from the CVM archive, exploring the
relationships between images and music.

The event features historical films from the CVM archive and contemporary
videos projected in the garden behind Chroma Gallery. Abstract films by
Oskar Fischinger, Mary Ellen Bute, Jules Engel, John Stehura and others,
plus contemporary work by Bret Battey, Chris Harvey, LIA, Robert Seidel,
Steve Woloshen and more. Curator/archivist Cindy Keefer of CVM will
introduce the films.

CVM is an archive devoted to visual music, experimental animation and
abstract cinema. CVM restores and distributes films to museums, galleries,
festivals and venues worldwide. Recently films from CVM have screened at
SFMOMA, Berkeley Art Museum, MOMA NY, Guggenheim NY, Whitney Museum, Centre
Pompidou, Tate Modern, BFI, and many other venues worldwide. Many of the
films on tonight’s program have been restored by CVM. Films will be
screened digitally.

Chroma Gallery, doors 8 pm. Tickets $8 at the door. 312 South A Street,
