[Frameworks] one year teaching post at York University Cinema & Media Arts

This teaching post may be of interest to some Framework members given York’s strong tradition of experimental film and media production and scholarship in the Department of Cinema & Media Arts.



The Department of Cinema and Media Arts, The School of the Arts, Media, Performance and Design (AMPD), York University invites applications from qualified candidates for a ten-month Sessional Assistant Professor position in Cinema and Media Studies to commence September 1, 2018. 

Applicants must have a PhD in Cinema Studies or a related discipline with demonstrable excellence, or the promise of excellence, in teaching and scholarly research. The successful candidate will have expertise in the following areas: Film and Media History, Theory and Criticism; Television Studies; and Digital Media with an understanding of contemporary media arts practices. The appointment carries an annual teaching load of three courses or the equivalent. All positions at York University are subject to budgetary approval. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. 

Responsibilities of the position will include the teaching of a full-range of appropriate undergraduate and graduate courses in Cinema and Media Studies, some reading of graduate thesis work, serving on Department or Faculty committees, student advising and curriculum assessment.
