[Frameworks] Seeking Silent Film Sequence Reference

A friend of a friend who is studying women's lit at UCLA has an "urgent film nerd question" for her research: does anyone know of a famous (or at least recognizable) scene in an old silent comedy where some disappears (a-la Méliès) leaving only empty clothes behind?

Perhaps there are many but any references would be appreciated.
