Selected Exhibition Program

April 4-28 2019 7-9pm nightly
Opening Night Thursday April 4, 7-9pm
Burrard View Fieldhouse, 545 N Slocan Avenue, Vancouver

Over the course of 2018, members of Iris Film Collective participated in individual month-long residencies to each create a 16mm film loop installation with a view to pushing the boundaries of 16mm film and projection. The only stipulation was that the work must impose an element of interference. This could include the manipulation of the light between the projector and screen, devices that transform the projection surface, alterations to the mechanism of projection, and the introduction of objects beyond the projection apparatus and film loop.

The result is LOOPDALOOP, a stunning and immersive rotating month-long exhibition taking place at our Burrard View Park Fieldhouse residency space, as a part of the Capture Photography Festival’s (https://irisfilmcollective.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ca78a8b2ad75dd2f5f3c309f5&id=27dece4417&e=d2e86835f2) Selected Exhibits that runs throughout the month of April.

The eight individual works are exhibited for three nights each over the course of the month along with enlargements of film frames from each loop as an accompanying photographic display.

Participating artists are Nisha Platzer (April 04-07) , Lisa g (April 08-10), Ariel Kirk-Gushowaty (April 11-13), Amanda Thomson (April 14-16), Alex MacKenzie (April 17-19), Zoe Kirk-Gushowaty (April 20-22), Ryder Thomas White (April 23-25), Sydney Southam (April 26-28)

Please join us on Opening night April 4 from 7-9pm!

This exhibition is part of the 2019 Capture Photography Festival Selected Exhibition Program. Many thanks to Capture Fest and Vancouver Parks & Recreation. Supported by a London Drugs Printing Grant.
