*This is short notice:*
The Film and Media Studies program at Colgate University is hiring
immediately for a one semester Visiting Lecturer appointment for Spring
2022, beginning in January. We are particularly interested in
scholar-makers whose practice and scholarship are interdisciplinary and
connect in unique ways to performance, visual, sonic, digital, and/or
movement-based arts. We also value experimental media production that is in
dialogue with new developments in media theory, including, but not limited
to, issues of power, privilege, and social justice. Teaching
responsibilities include two sections of FMST 200 Introduction to Film and
Media Studies, and one section of FMST 390 Special Topics: Personal
Filmmaking — a hybrid theory / practice course. Ongoing contributions to
the program’s longstanding tradition of bringing a diverse group of film,
video, and media makers and scholars to campus will be integral to the
position, as will curating screenings/exhibitions and organizing special
events. The salary for teaching three courses in the Spring semester is
roughly $35,000, with benefits. Teaching load can be flexible, with the
possibility of a salary rate commensurate with a per course basis.
Those interested should send a CV and brief cover letter to Lakshmi Luthra,
Program Director (lluthra at colgate.edu), cc Angela Kowalski, FMST
Administrative Assistant (akowalski at colgate.edu). In your cover letter
please address how your teaching and scholarship might create an inclusive
educational environment, as well as your ability to work effectively with
students across a wide range of identities and backgrounds. Further
information about the Film and Media Studies program can be found at
