[Frameworks] Traditional Rotoscoping Mirror Problems

I built a rotoscope that was used to project the previous film frame onto
the current frame. I had all kinds of problems with focus until I put an
aperture into the system, then it was very sharp.  Not sure if that would
work with your set up.
