Dear Frameworkers,

I’m happy to announce the publication of Issue 03 of CALIGARI
<http://caligaripress.com/>, a multimedia periodical of cinema, arts, and
letters. Issue 03 is a special Halloween-season issue featuring
cinematographer Anthony Richmond
<https://caligaripress.com/Cinematographer-Anthony-Richmond-on-One-Plus-One-Don-t-Look-Now>,
who shares incredible stories about the making of *Candyman, Tales From the
Hood, Don’t Look Now*, and Jean-Luc Godard’s *One Plus One*; filmmaker Jennifer
Reeder
<https://caligaripress.com/Jennifer-Reeder-FROM-SUSPIRIA-TO-SAINT-MAUD-20-Twisted-Tales-About>,
named by director Bong Joon Ho as one of twenty filmmakers to watch in the
2020s, takes us FROM SUSPIRIA TO SAINT MAUD in a killer overview of “20
Twisted Tales About Wicked Women”; writer, critic, and multi-media artist Masha
Tupitsyn <https://caligaripress.com/Masha-Tupitsyn-DECADES-80s> shares a
90-minute cut of her monumental video collage, DECADES, an ongoing
durational series which uses film sounds and scores to provide a sonic
account of a decade. The focus in this excerpt is on technology and body
horror in cinema of the 1980s, and the essay that accompanies the piece is
outstanding.

This special issue also includes a conversation with writer and poet Dodie
Bellamy,
<https://caligaripress.com/Dodie-Bellamy-on-The-Letters-of-Mina-Harker> who
talks about her 1998 debut novel, *The Letters of Mina Harker* — a key text
from San Francisco’s experimental New Narrative movement now hot off the
press in a new edition; Mexican horror specialist Armando Hernández
<https://caligaripress.com/Armando-Hernandez-Noches-de-oscuros-Mexican-Horror-Obscurities-of-the>
does
a deep dive to disinter a selection of obscure Mexican horror movies of the
1960s–1990s; Pittsburgh-based writer and poet Ed Steck
<https://caligaripress.com/Ed-Steck-The-House-by-the-Cemetery-Beyond-the-Door>
writes
about *The House by the Cemetery* (Lucio Fulci, 1981) and *Beyond the
Door* (Ovidio
Assonitis & Roberto Piazzoli, 1974); Chef Jazz Singsanong
<https://caligaripress.com/Chef-Jazz-Thai-Pumpkin-3-Ways>of the celebrated
Southern Thai restaurant Jitlada in East Hollywood shares three Thai
pumpkin recipes; and LA-based musician and poet Sophie Weil
<https://caligaripress.com/Sophie-Weil-Dove-Cove-s-Halloween-Mix>, of Dove
Cove Records, puts together a special annotated Halloween mix of songs by
artists who transform into characters with their music.

This is a little project, so if anything seems interesting, please spread
the word.

Happy fall,
Jonathan
