*Misery Machine (directed by Ben Kujawski / 2018 / 3 mins / B&W / Super-8mm
to HD / live musical accompaniment)* ~ A documentary-montage condensing the
energy and emotion experienced one night at a small town race track. ****Live
musical accompaniment performed by the director.*

*Do You Think Jesus Liked Hard Boiled Eggs (directed by Ben Kujawski / 2020
/ 18 mins / color / sound / 4K UHD projection)* ~ A narrative short film
that follows a hitchhiker as she becomes stranded with a stubbornly
faithful evangelist. D.Y.T.J.L.H.B.E. examines the seemingly indifferent
landscape of the Desert Southwest, those who inhabit it, and the complex
relationship that exists between reliance and independence. ****There will
be an open Q&A with the director after the film.*

*Rancho Deluxe **(directed by Frank Perry / 1975 / 93 mins / color / sound
/ 1080p digital projection)* ~ An overlooked *(but not forgotten)* acid
western comedy about two drifters of widely varying backgrounds, who plague
a wealthy ranch owner as cattle rustlers in Livingston Montana. Rancho
Deluxe is a rarely seen 70's feature written by Tom McGuan that takes dead
aim at the mythology of the American West and features a cast of cult icons
(plus a "pretty good" soundtrack by Jimmy Buffet!) End quote: *"I've
seen more of this state's poor cowboys, miners, railroaders and Indians go
broke buyin' pickup trucks. The poor people of this state are dope fiends
for pickup trucks. As soon's they get ten cents ahead they trade in on a
new pickup truck. The families, homesteads, schools, hospitals and
happiness of Montana have been sold down the river to buy pickup trucks!...
And there's a sickness here worse than alcohol and dope. It is the pickup
truck debt! And there's no cure in sight."*
