*Light Cone Editions présente un nouvel ouvrage consacré aux écologies du
cinéma expérimental et dirigé par Elio Della Noce et Lucas Murari. Le livre
est actuellement disponible en précommande sur notre site web et le sera en
librairie à partir du 25 avril 2022.*

Si les cinéastes expérimentaux « élargissent » le champ artistique par une
exploration des puissances, des modes de diffusion ou même de performance
de l’image animée, à l’ère de l’Anthropocène, ces pratiques contiennent
l’espoir d’une toute autre expansion : *élargir notre expérience de la
nature*.

Apposer des fleurs sur la pellicule, ensevelir le film, inventer des
dispositifs d’observation, laisser la caméra être affectée par les forces
naturelles, engager son corps filmant dans une relation symbiotique avec le
milieu, reconstituer des écosystèmes à la projection : les écologies du
cinéma expérimental proposées ici constituent des formes de pratiques et
d’engagement qui éveillent à une sensibilité accrue au vivant grâce à des
liens de coopération, confient aux autres existants les rôles de sujets et
d’agents des processus filmiques, et enfin remodèlent l’économie de la
fabrication du film. Se déploient ainsi des écologies de la perception, du
médium, de la production et un multinaturalisme qui contribuent à restaurer
notre lien sensible avec le vivant.

Abordant à la fois des questions techniques, esthétiques et
anthropologiques du cinéma, *Expanded Nature - Écologies du cinéma
expérimental* envisage la manière dont cinéastes et collectifs des
différentes parties du globe font communauté avec les autres existants
non-humains et œuvrent par leurs films à déconstruire le privilège humain.
Au croisement des disciplines, anthropologues, philosophes, cinéastes et
artistes, chercheurs et chercheuses en études visuelles se regroupent et
investiguent une autre histoire du cinéma, écrite du point de vue de la
nature.

*Light Cone Editions presents a new publication dedicated to the ecologies
of experimental cinema, directed by Elio Della Noce and Lucas Murari. The
book is currently available for pre-order on our website and will be for
sale in bookstores starting on April 25th, 2022.*

If it can be said that experimental filmmakers are "expanding" the artistic
field through an exploration of the potencies, modes of dissemination, or
even performance of the moving image, in the Anthropocene age, these
practices hope for another kind of expansion: *to expand our experience of
nature*.

Appending flowers to the film strip or burying it in the ground, inventing
observation devices, allowing the camera to be affected by natural forces,
engaging one's own filming body in a symbiotic relationship with the
environment, reconstituting ecosystems at the moment of projection: the
ecologies of experimental cinema presented in this book constitute forms of
practice and engagement that awaken a heightened sensitivity to the living
world through cooperative links, casting other beings as subjects and
agents of filmic processes, and, finally, reshaping the economy of
filmmaking. Thus, ecologies of perception, medium, production and
multinaturalism are deployed, contributing to the restoration of our
sensory bond with the natural world.

Addressing technical, aesthetic and anthropological issues of cinema, *Expanded
Nature - Ecologies of Experimental Cinema* considers how filmmakers and
collectives from different parts of the globe form communities with other
non-human beings and work through their films to deconstruct human
privilege. At the crossroads of disciplines, anthropologists, philosophers,
filmmakers and artists, and researchers in visual studies come together and
investigate a different history of cinema, written from the point of view
of nature.
