this is the last call for participation in the 23rd dresdner schmalfilmtage 2022.

The schmalfilmtage are a German film-festival based in Dresden. They are dedicated to movies shot on 8 or 16 mm motion picture film, as well as for movies made out of or including archive material.

23rd INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION SUPER8/16 
Until January 31, 2022
Films of all genres can be submitted to the 23rd International Competition Super8/16 at dresdner schmalfilmtage. Participating films must originally have been shot on film stock of 8mm super8 or 16mm. They must be less than 20 minutes and not older than 2 year.
Jury Award: 300€
Audience Award: 200€
 
5th INTERNATIONAL FOUND FOOTAGE COMPETITION 
Until January 31, 2022
In cooperation with the Filmverband Sachsen (Saxony Film Association) the dresdner schmalfilmtage againaward prizes for works that deal with film and heritage. For the 5th International Found Footage Competition works can be submitted, which deal with archive material in the film formats 8mm or 16mm. Whether including archival footage, a new score or mixing original sound with new footage – there are no set limitations concerning the engagement with historical film material. The films must have been made within the last two years, and must not be longer than 20 minutes.
Jury Award: 300€
Audience Award: 200€ for research work in international film archives
The special prize was initiated in 2018 by the FILMVERBAND SACHSEN e. V. in the framework of its project "Audiovisual Heritage in Saxony" with the support of the Saxon State Ministry for Science and the Arts (SMWK).
