General Info
This year’s celebratory 10th Annual Flamingo Film Festival (#FFFX + #FFF23) submission portal is now open via FilmFreeway <https://filmfreeway.com/FlamingoFilmFest>. EXTENDED DEADLINE is April 10th with the free, in-person event/exhibition scheduled for Saturday, April 22nd at FAU’s MetroLab <https://www.fau.edu/broward/about/fort-lauderdale/> in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Films are limited to 20 minutes or less and must be completed after 01.01.21. The festival is a competitively juried exhibition and only the films/works selected will screen. (FYI, the festival had 550 subs in 2022 and screened around 60.) Students may submit for FREE. Festival programming is TBD, and days, times, and locations are subject to change. Festival terms and conditions can be found through FilmFreeway <https://filmfreeway.com/FlamingoFilmFest>. Feel free to share with your students and colleagues. 
 
Videomaker Subscription
FFF is again partnering with Videomaker <https://www.videomaker.com/> to provide complimentary digital magazine subscriptions to all student filmmakers submitting to FFFX. This includes 6 digital editions of Videomaker’s bi-monthly magazine, the go-to video production magazine since 1986. With instructional courses, educational articles, virtual events, podcasts, buyer’s guides, product reviews, and more, Videomaker is the ultimate resource for filmmakers. Following the festival, Videomaker will contact submitters with instructions on how to activate the complimentary subscription. Opt-out at any time.
 
Mandate + Info
The Flamingo Film Festival is dedicated to exhibiting the international short films and videos produced by student filmmakers. For the past nine installments the event has honored outstanding dramatic, documentary, experimental, music video, and animated projects created by students while enrolled in a college, university, or other post-secondary institutions. It's the goal of the Flamingo Film Festival to continue to encourage student creativity, recognizing achievements in film, video, and media. The festival is organized within FAU-SCMS-FVNM’s Exhibition Practices in Film, Video & New Media (RTV 3229 + FIL 6409) course. 
 
Awards + Fees + Waivers
The Flamingo Film Festival reserves the right and has the discretion to change the submission category for a film. The festival reserves the right and has the discretion to add award categories and suspend/eliminate award categories. There are no cash awards. Fees, deadlines, and waivers are also at the festival's discretion. Awards include: Core > Best Overall, Best Documentary, Best Experimental, Best Fiction, Best Animation, Best Music Video; Craft > Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Sound Design, Best Practical Effects, Best Visual Effects, Best Art Direction.
