The heads on the thing are relatively low-Z and for playback you could
probably get away with a 1/4" electronics package that was set for 7.5 ips.
The time constants aren't the same so the response won't be flat, but it will
be relatively close.

You might find something like a Telex RP85 out there somewhere.  These were
cheap and non-horrible and TV netws guys would occasionally use them for
low-fi film sound.
