[Frameworks] stabilizing a scan using the sprocket holes? (Davinci Resolve or Avid?)

Hey folks
just got a Super 8mm scan which jumps at every splice, trying to figure out the easiest way to stabilize it ...I got an overscan so I can see the sprocket holes - seems like there should be able to use them as a guide ..?
I'm starting to scan films that were shot on Super 8mm then blown up to 16mm - thought the best plan would be to scan the Super 8mm origs, but given this issue I'm starting to have second thoughts - any opinions?
