I would try something like 2 pieces of ply wood bolted together in the 
centre with counter sunk bolt head. USe big bolt like M12. Fix camera to 
the top piece. Fix bottom piece to a tripod somehow. Maybe silicon grease 
between the sheets. Move by hand
