Phil and Ruth,

Thank you for speaking up and out both here and in your work to bring attention and resistance to the coup underway here in the States.

Yes! Let us each put our gifts and skills, resources and energy into action, together standing with courage for what we value and believe in.

I am joining tomorrow with others from Indivisible and MoveOn to meet with our state senators Warren and Markey (Massachusetts) to demand that they stop business as usual, treat this as the emergency it is and do all possible to end Musk’s access to federal records, payrolls, data.

Your post here gives me the idea to film the demonstration/meetings.

In the Abortion Clinic Film Collective series, we hear from medical directors and staff, mothers and daughters, criminal defense attorneys and advocates, about how their personal and professional lives have been affected post-Dobbs. Each portal provides a window into the broad and life-threatening ramifications of that Supreme Court decision and its devastating legacy for the health and well-being of our country and people.

However, here in the USA as you most likely know, we are experiencing an authoritarian oligarchical push to reverse and destroy institutions that indeed help people. Our personal freedoms are now truly compromised so before some of us are truly hurt or imprisoned by this regime’s cruelty I am calling for as many filmmakers that are able to address this current situation in new work and local curator’s present this work and communicate with all of us to bring our community together in actionable response. This can be one of many initiatives but I believe as filmmakers we can start here.
