Dear Eric,
I recommend the films of Jaap Pieters, such as “Tin Can Man” available from the Eye Institute in Amsterdam.
Jaap often attributes his creativity to his Asperger’s syndrome among other things, and this film is a good example of his observational techniques using one roll of super-8 film to focus on someone's obsessive activity.
