[Frameworks] cameraless films...or ?

Shelly,

I was thinking that the subject line might actually be sending people in the wrong direction. If you were simply looking for "cameraless" films, then there'd be a million suggestions (starting with Len Lye, Norman McLaren, Harry Smith, et al.). But the Frampton is really about "filmless films," which it seems to me is a really different matter. A cameraless film is something that you could still "get a copy" of; a "filmless film" has no body, is all time and light and performance, so there'd be no way to simply get a copy (like the Gibson/Recoder projector performances--at best you could get a "documentation"). I do really like the suggestion of the Morgan Fisher, but it's hard to come up with a long list of films that are reproducible that are true to the spirit of Frampton's musings on light & projectors. (Of course, that distinction could be an interesting part of the class discussion.)

Two (more) cents,
Roger
