your rental guy is a jerk.

I work in corporate AV to pay the bills and we mount lcds and plasmas ALL THE TIME with that orientation.

the monitor doesnt care what you are displaying.

depending on what your source is, if its a computer, most have a setting under display output to turn the image to fit that, or there are
free share ware programs you can download to turn the image for you.

most wall/pole mount brackets for lcds/plasmas have the option to mount the monitor that way.

wow, I feel bad for you that your rental guy is so dumb, and that you have to deal w/ that......
Let me know if you have any other questions, I know way too much about tech specs for mounting monitors... :)

p.s. if your source is static, and you are worried about "burn-in", here is a very easy way to fix it.
make your source a plain white full screen powerpoint slide, and just let that be your image for a while, it will fix the burn-in, it resets the pixels.

Subject: [Frameworks] Technical questions about video display

Dear FrameWorkers,

I'm curating an exhibition of video and photography in mid-April at The LOFT at Lower Parel in Mumbai and had a few technical questions I wanted to run by the people on this list.

1. I want to install a video on a flat screen TV and I want to mount the TV on the wall vertically. (That is, not 16:9 but 9:16.) The exhibition will be on for 20 days and the TV will be running 8 hours a day. The equipment rental guy I've been speaking to says that mounting the TV vertically might create alignment issues in the future and would be harmful to the equipment. Is this true?

2. For those of you in Bombay, could you suggest a good and inexpensive place for equipment rental? I'm looking for LED/LCD flat screen TVs or monitors, and projectors.

Thanks in advance,
Subuhi Jiwani
