Still from *Rebel Objects* by Carolina Arias Ortiz (2020, CR/CO, 69’)

Rebel Objects

In *Rebel Objects*, Anthropologist and filmmaker Carolina Arias Ortiz
returns to Costa Rica, where she spent her childhood. She visits her
estranged father. When he is diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, death
suddenly draws close. At the same time she meets the archaeologist Ifigenia
Quintanilla, who is conducting research into one of Costa Rica’s most
famous cultural phenomena: the large, pre-Columbian stone spheres found
scattered across the landscape, and the many myths associated with them.

Still from *Visão do Paraíso* by Leonardo Pirondi (2022, BR/US/UK, 16’)
Visão do Paraíso

*Visão do Paraíso (Vision of Paradise)* follows a voyage of the Brazilian
Military in search of an imaginary island with the same name as their
country. Amidst the fine threshold of the real, simulated, and imagined,
the film analyzes the contemporary ideas of virtual reality and their
ambition to expand the frontiers of the physical world into a “New World”.
