Hi All!


I thought I would send along XINEMA's recent call, a nomadic experimental
film series I run that is primarily based in Vancouver BC, Canada. The
deadline is coming up soon on *June 1st*. I realize that I am putting this
out on here pretty late, so if the deadline or submission form proves to be
a barrier in any way please send us an email (info at xinema.ca) and we will
figure something out! Looking forward to your potential submissions!

Calling all experimental film and media makers, curators, and workshop
facilitators!


XINEMA is now accepting experimental film and media submissions, as well as
proposals for guest programs and film and media related workshops from
local and international artists and curators.

~Films of any length, format, year, screening history or premiere status
will be considered.

~Applicants are welcome and encouraged to submit workshop proposals that
coincide with their film's subject matter or material practice. Applicants
may also propose curated programs that feature or are based around their
own work.

~Workshops will be presented primarily in conversation with our thematic
programs and with the possibility of being presented in Vancouver BC, the
applicant's place of residence, and/or online.

~Applicants are welcome and encouraged to submit curatorial proposals that
coincide with their proposed workshops.

~If an applicant has submitted a film, they are also encouraged to submit a
workshop proposal that relates to their film's subject matter or material
practice.

~No previous teaching experience is required to teach a workshop.

~Applicants are welcome and encouraged to submit workshop proposals that
coincide with their curatorial proposal. This could be a workshop taught by
the program curator that relates to the proposed program's theme, or a
workshop led by an artist whose work is featured in the proposed program.

~Applicants may propose curated programs that include or are based around
their own work; solo screenings or retrospectives that feature only one
artist's work will not be considered.

~No previous curatorial experience is required to curate a program.



XINEMA prioritizes submissions from members of underrepresented and equity
deserving communities, including those from racialized groups, Indigenous
peoples, people with disabilities, women, and LGTBQIA2S+ people.

Proposals of workshop and guest programs at various stages of development
will be considered, and in some instances XINEMA may work with the
artist/curator to refine working concepts.


Guest program or workshop proposals from collectives and/or community
organizations are encouraged.

Artist, curator, and facilitator fees, as well as material budgets will be
assessed on a project to project basis. For related inquiries email

XINEMA is an ongoing series that showcases emerging and established
filmmakers within and beyond "Vancouver", BC to strengthen and preserve the
experimental film scene.
